Khamseh Arabs

Nomads & Tribes

Arabs of the Khamseh

The Arabs of the Khamseh are an Arab nomadic-pastoral group in Fars province, southwestern Iran, and one of the five member tribes of the 19th-century Khamseh confederation. They speak a local Gulf-Arabic dialect heavily influenced by Persian, follow mainly Shia Islam, and traditionally make their living with seasonal pastoralism (sheep, goats and some camel herding).
